Each dog is unique.
How can we help you get the most out of your relationship? By leveraging intrinsic motivation techniques and rewarding excellent behaviour, Matthias will work with you and your pet to develop realistic, individualized training plans in alignment with LIMA principles (see below).
He works with dogs and their owners in a variety of contexts, including in-person and virtual coaching sessions and group classes for dogs of all ages. His goal is to help dog owners better understand their companions, and to identify and address behavioral challenges in a supportive and collaborative environment.
Matthias is well-equipped to deal with most behavioral challenges, specializing in puppy and adult dog socialization, dog reactivity, leash walking, off-leash training, and nuisance behaviors.
A term originally coined by Steven Lindsay in 2001, the LIMA approach to training or behavioural consulting relies on the least intrusive, minimally aversive strategy for a specific situation, drawing on humane training tactics that are likely to succeed in reaching a behavioural change goal.
In most cases, training objectives can be achieved through a variety of non-punishment-based techniques, including differential reinforcement, desensitization, and counter-conditioning.
Effective practitioners of LIMA techniques must be highly experienced and educated in a variety of animal training methodologies in order to achieve optimal results.
